Author, Shatter the Nations: ISIS and the War for the Caliphate

During the peak of its barbarism, ISIS controlled a vast territory stretching through Iraq and Syria, with ISIS-inspired attacks reaching as far as Europe and the United States.

Journalist and Author Mike Giglio chronicles the rise and rule of the terrorist group, as well as the story of the international coalition that arose to defeat it in his new book Shatter the Nations. The book captures the vivid accounts of the town-by-town conflicts, American military engagement, and battlefield drama in the race to defeat ISIS. It also highlights the sinister and destructive power of extremism and the courageous men and women who vowed to defeat it.

Join Hudson Institute for a discussion with author Mike Giglio on his latest book, Shatter the Nations: ISIS and the War for the Caliphate. Mike is a staff writer at The Atlantic in Washington, D.C. He focuses on intelligence and national security and has reported extensively on the conflicts in Syria, Iraq, and Ukraine. Mike spent five years based in Istanbul as a correspondent for Newsweek and BuzzFeed.

Copies of Shatter the Nations: ISIS and the War for the Caliphate will be available for purchase.
