The AUKUS agreement’s transfer of nuclear submarine technology to Australia could substantially enhance Indo-Pacific security, giving Canberra the high-endurance, long-distance, stealthy platform it needs to project power to seas that China might contest. But the AUKUS model could also be applied to benefit other U.S. Asian allies—most importantly South Korea and Japan.
