In December 2021, the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice published a draft policy statement on the licensing and enforcement of standard-essential patents, which cover standardized technologies such as 5G. The draft has faced significant criticism, including from former heads of agencies, national security experts, universities, and small businesses. Join Hudson Institute Senior Fellow Urška Petrovčič and expert panelists Deanna Okun, Kristen Osenga, and Stephen Susalka for a discussion on why the draft policy has proven so controversial.
