Announced to great fanfare in mid-December, Japan’s three new strategic documents—the National Security Strategy, National Defense Strategy, and Defense Buildup Program—mark a turning point in post-war Japanese history. To face Japan’s greatest strategic challenge—the cross-domain threat posed by the People’s Republic of China—the documents recognize that Japan needs to double defense spending and augment military capabilities significantly. In addition, these documents highlight the need to take additional measures, such as bolstering cybersecurity, information security, and industrial security as the foundation for security transformation.

To examine how Japan can enhance its cybersecurity, information security, and industrial security, please join Hudson Institute for a conversation with three noted experts: Mihoko Matsubara, chief cybersecurity strategist at NTT Corporation; Lindy Kyzer, director of content at ClearanceJobs.com; and Arthur Herman, senior fellow at Hudson Institute. Walter P. Stern Distinguished Fellow Ken Weinstein will host the event.
